We finally finished our show a couple weeks ago and we ended our show with a bang. Literally. Our van hit the curb really hard just before crossing the Ohio river and we busted a tire. We spent our last hour together down by the river. It was actually pretty hilarious… :)

“Just want to thank you all (the performers, the River Institute and Hanover College) for making last night’s performance available to our residents. They are still talking today about how much they enjoyed the show! I saw the look of wonder and pure enjoyment on the faces of so many in our audience, even those with varying stages of Alzheimer’s. As I said last night, many of our residents are unable to respond as they once did, but believe me, they were totally engaged and caught up in the moment. How wonderful that you all are able to reach inside so many people and touch something long forgotten, or trigger a lovely old memory. For our audience at least, your group did so much more than offer an educational and lively performance. Just like “Jenny,” I think many were transported to another time, another place, and for an hour at least, they were the people they once were. On behalf of our residents, once again, thank you for a truly amazing evening. I hope you all understand how your talent and caring hearts can touch so many people in so many ways…what a gift you all have!”

Today is my last day as Jenny. I’m going to miss her dearly! It was so fun to travel back in time both in the show and within myself to find my childhood self again. I think anyone in theatre could agree that once you become a character they are always a part of you. I’m so glad I got to be a nine year old this whole summer because it has given me a new adventurous and fun loving perspective to see from.

A huge thank you goes out to my cast mates, stage manager, director, and the River’s Institute for an awesome summer. :)

Belle of Louisville show! Best experience so far, I think :)

It was amazing to have the privilege to ride on a nearly 100-year-old river boat, and even perform on it too! Our green room was the captain’s quarters! After our show, we got to relax and sit on the deck while the sun went down and all the lights from the city came on. It was so beautiful :)

Gracie and I (formally known as “The Acies” around our friends) have shared such awesome roles this summer. We both star as Jenny and work backstage as the Assistant Stage Manager since there are two casts. I have grown up quite a bit this summer as both an actress and a tech hand, learning how to work with a different area each show, how to roll with the punches and improvise, and above all else how to share the spotlight. If I had to switch with anyone in the world it would be this lady right here. Gracie’s positive, sunshiny attitude is always a motivating push in tough situations and did I mention that she is my best friend?

I know the summer isn’t over yet, but I just want to say I’m really going to miss working with her. - Jacie

Our show in Princeton, IN was very fun :)

Our poles used for the curtain were too long, so we had to tape our curtains to the ceiling (That was a first!).

We have a new way of getting ready for Blue cast. Jacie braids my hair while I glue on Gray’s beard. Teamwork!

Alex was a little sleepy during the 3 hour ride home. Whadda cutie.
